چکیده

Introduction Evaluations of right ventricle (RV) parameters are feasible using echocardiographic, nuclear, computed tomography and cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) techniques but perfusion of the RV is not routinely assessed. Knowledge of blood flow to myocardium of the RV might be a useful parameter in the assessment of disease states. Such a measurement might yield important information about congenital, ischemic, and acquired conditions of the right heart.

The Correlation between Left and Right Ventricular Ejection Fractions in Patients with Ischemic Heart Disease, Documented by Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Introduction: The correlation between right and left ventricular ejection fractions (RVEF and LVEF, respectively) has been studied in only a small number of patients with a marked decrease in RVEF and LVEF. The aim of the present study was to compare LVEF and RVEF in patients with ischemic heart disease. RVEF and LVEF were measured by Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) imaging. Materials a...

The quantitative assessment of microvascular obstruction size using first-pass perfusion cardiac MR

Background The presence and absolute amount of microvascular obstruction (MO) are associated with adverse left ventricular remodelling and prognosis in patients with acute myocardial infarction. MO can be detected with cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) using the technique of first pass perfusion imaging, late contrast enhanced CMR or early contrast enhanced CMR. It has not been sh...

Magnetic resonance evaluation of coronary anatomy, first-pass myocardial perfusion and late gadolinium enhancement in children with acquired and congenital heart disease

Background Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) has expanded its role in the diagnosis and management of congenital heart disease and acquired heart disease in children. However, there are limited studies evaluating the role of cardiac magnetic resonance in delineating the anatomy of coronary arteries along with assessment of first pass myocardial perfusion in children. The purpose of this s...

Myocardial ischemia in the absence of epicardial coronary artery disease in Friedreich's ataxia

We present the first in vivo detection of microvascular abnormality in a patient with Friedreich's ataxia (FA) without epicardial coronary artery disease using cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR). The patient had exertional chest pain and dyspnea prompting referral for cardiac evaluation. These symptoms were reproduced during intravenous adenosine infusion, and simultaneous first-pass perfusion im...

Characterization of microvascular dysfunction after acute myocardial infarction by cardiovascular magnetic resonance first-pass perfusion and late gadolinium enhancement imaging.

PURPOSE While both first-pass perfusion and late gadolinium enhancement by cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) can assess coronary microvascular status in acute myocardial infarction (AMI), there are only limited data on their respective diagnostic utility. We aim to evaluate: the utility of first-pass perfusion and late gadolinium enhancement imaging in the detection and quantification of ...
